Shankar Tucker – clarinetist / composer

“O Re Piya / Rolling in the Deep” ft. Rohan Kymal

This is my first experiment with a Hindi / Western Pop song mash-up, combining Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s “O Re Piya” with Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”. Big thanks to Dan Crowley at the Motel Room studios in NYC for engineering the session and giving us the recording space.

Terrific Mash Up ! Shankar Tucker hasn’t failed to impress us with his talent once again! And,Rohan Kymal’s voice is way too good. He sung on par with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan :)
The transition from O re Piya to Rolling in the deep was absolutely great!
Waiting for more from Shankar Tucker and team :)

  18. Setu August 21, 2011 at 1:58 am

  23. AmitKeerti August 26, 2011 at 4:22 am

I have already done 10 repeats. Great rendition.
Amazing mash up of both the songs.
Emotions thrown by Rohan (both visible and audible) make the song even more involving.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Waiting for the next one.

  24. Murali August 30, 2011 at 1:59 pm

Dont know what to write, buti really like his voice. Keep it up Rohan and GOD bless you.

  25. SSK September 1, 2011 at 3:01 am

Like it a lot. But still fell the original by rahat fateh ali khan was more soulful. Rohan’s singing is great but is too polished and missing the roughness in pronunciations. I myself am not a musician, so dont have much rights to talk negatively but I hope you take the negative feed back positively. 😉

I must say, the transition from o re piya to rollin in the deep was AWESOME..!!!

Over all, great composition. Its the 4th best in my list of all your works. :)

Keep up the great work. Cheers :)

  26. sharika September 3, 2011 at 12:33 am

It is a beautiful mix.. great talent at both singer’s and musicians’ end!!.. But even after hearing it thousands of times [n liking it! :-)], I feel impelled to point out that ‘haaye’.. in the hindi part of the song has been wrongly sung as ‘hain’… n then, there are some other small troubles with pronunciation..

It may not stop me (or others) from loving it but I wish the songs in future are flawless in all respects :-)

Wish your team all the very best.. (n Thanks for the gems!)

  27. Deepa September 6, 2011 at 9:43 am

I am big fan of your music shanker and u should definitely record an album! As usual this one is also awesome..but as sharika and SSK said the pronunciation could be better..lyrics are also imp in any song…words like banwra, haaye has got more of a south indian touch than the UP ka lehja…Rohan s blessed with a soulful voice…looking frwrd to more of such compositions:) All the best!

  28. S.Giri Kumar September 7, 2011 at 3:28 am

    Simply superb rendition
